CR Șosea Seniori #2 / Turul Ciclist al Clujului & Trofeul Ardealul, editia 34 2026

The tricolour jersey, decided over one weekend.

12–14 June 2026 · Cluj-Napoca, Cluj

Three days, three disciplines: time trial, road race, and where the program allows, the Under-23 and Junior road races. The Romanian National Road Cycling Championship is contested by federation-licensed riders for the right to wear the tricolour jersey at every other race for the next twelve months. No prize purse worth chasing — just the title.

About the championship

A federation title — not a participation event

CR Șosea Seniori is the annual national-team road race weekend run by Federația Română de Ciclism (FRC). The program covers Elite Men/Women, U23, Juniori (U19), Master and — in recent editions — Paraciclism, contested across the Contratimp Individual (ITT) and Cursă în Linie (Fond / Road Race). Entry is licensed-only; the start list is published by FRC 2–3 days before the first day's race. The tricolour jersey carries UCI National Champion advertising rules: the winner wears it in every UCI race for the next twelve months.

What this race means

Selection and downstream consequences

The National Championship is the highest single-day prize on the Romanian road calendar — but it also feeds federation selection downstream. Results inform Lot Național Șosea (national team) calls for the Balkan and European Championships, and Elite UCI ranking points roll into the rider's individual UCI standing.

  • Lot Național Șosea — selection for Balkan Championships and European Championships flows from CN results plus Cupa României points across the season.

  • UCI Continental ranking — Elite results carry UCI points scaled by the UCI's CN classification.

  • Tricolour jersey rights — the winner wears the tricolour jersey in every UCI race for the next 12 months, per UCI National Champion advertising rules.

  • Olympic pathway — Elite results feed into UCI Nation ranking that determines Romania's Olympic quota.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I qualify for U23?

Licensed riders born within the 4-year U23 window (FRC §). Entry through the rider's club via the FRC entry form by the published deadline. There is no qualification race — entry is on licence and category, not on points.

Do I need a licence to enter?

Yes. All National Championship races are licensed-only. No open / amateur category at CN Șosea — for unlicensed cyclists, the Cupa Națională Amatori (CNA) runs separately. Day-licences are not offered at CN.

Where can I see the start list?

FRC publishes the official start list on its website and Facebook page 2–3 days before each day's race. Live timing is provided by Cronometraj/RaceTec at cronometraj.racetecresults.com on race day.

Is there a team time trial?

Not currently in the National Championship program — only Contratimp Individual on Friday and Cursă în Linie on Saturday/Sunday. Team TT (CRE) appears occasionally in Cupa României rounds but not at CN.

What does the champion receive?

The tricolour jersey (tricoul de campion) and the right to wear it in every UCI race for the next 12 months. No significant prize money — the title is the prize.

Is paraciclism included?

Recent editions have integrated parastarts into the weekend program (in 2024 the official title was 'Campionatele Naționale de Șosea și Paraciclism'). Check the FRC technical bulletin for class-by-class start times.

Where does the championship rotate?

FRC awards the hosting rights to a Romanian commune annually. Recent editions: Loamneș and Ocna Sibiului (2025, Sibiu), Sălacea (2024, Bihor), Pucioasa (2023, Dâmbovița). The host is confirmed at the FRC General Assembly the year before.

Are road closures in effect?

Yes for the race window — closed-road zones around the start/finish and along the course. The host commune publishes spectator access points, parking, and detour information.

One weekend. One jersey. One year of bragging rights.

Entry runs through the FRC entry form. Confirm licence, club, and category by the federation's deadline — there is no late entry path.
