The race
Three disciplines, one Transylvanian lake
Binder Lake Triathlon takes over Lacul Binder in the hills near Sibiu: you swim in the lake, then head onto the bike, then finish on foot — all from the same lakeside start-finish. Now in its 8th edition, it has grown into one of the friendliest ways to line up for a triathlon in Transylvania.
The bike leg is off-road — about 22 km for adults, on MTB or gravel bikes — and some sections may be open to traffic, so the rules of the road apply. The run is three laps of a roughly 1 km loop around the lake, and the finish waits back at the shore.
