CR MTB Copii #5 / MTB Academy Cup 2026
U17 → U11 race day. Short laps, real numbers, family weekend.
19 September 2026 · Câmpulung Muscel, Argeș
Sanctioned youth cross-country racing on a closed mountain bike circuit. Cadeți (U17), Youth A (U15), Youth B (U13), and MiniBikers (U11) race their own scaled loops with their own start times and podium ceremonies. The federation runs the timing and the rules; the day is a kids race weekend with parents on the tape.

What you actually need on race day
First time at a CR MTB Copii round? Here's the practical kit, the logistics, and the timing windows. Skip to the FAQ if you've done this before.
Bike pickup window
Arrive 45–60 minutes before your kid's start. Number plate, transponder pickup, mechanical check, and a warm-up lap on the loop.
Parking + family area
Hosts publish parking and family-area maps in the technical guide ahead of the round. Cars usually park 100–300 m from the start/finish; pit and pad-ups in between.
Viewing zones
Start/finish is always open to spectators. Hosts mark 1–2 mid-course viewing zones where you can stand close to the tape without crossing the course. Bring a folding chair.
Kit checklist
Helmet (mandatory, half-shell MTB), bike, race shoes, racing kit, spare layer, water bottle, banana / snack, sunscreen, towel. Bring the FRC licence card. Bring the rider's birth certificate if it's their first race — needed at registration.
When you can actually see them race
Most U13–U17 races run 20–60 minutes total. Mini races are 15–25 minutes. Plan to stay 90 minutes per category from start to podium.
Photo zones
Hosts publish recommended photo spots in the technical guide. Don't cross the course tape. Don't follow on bike — that's a yellow card for the rider.
Parental consent is required at registration for every rider under 18 — sign it in advance, save the morning hassle.

FAQ
Race-day questions, parent edition
Do I need a federation licence for my kid to race?
Yes. Every CR MTB Copii starter needs an active FRC licence — issued through the rider's club (or as an independent licence for unaffiliated kids). The application takes 1–2 weeks and asks for the kid's birth certificate, medical clearance, and a guardian signature. Apply ahead of the season; same-day licences are not offered.
Where can I park and watch my kid race?
Hosts publish parking + family-area maps in the technical guide ~10 days before each round. Start/finish always open to spectators; expect 1–2 marked mid-course viewing zones. Bring a folding chair. Do not cross course tape and do not follow on bike — both are penalties on the rider.
What do I bring on race day?
Helmet (half-shell MTB, mandatory), bike, racing kit, race shoes (flat pedals OK for MiniBikers), spare layer, water, snack, sunscreen, towel, FRC licence card, birth certificate (first race only), and the signed parental consent form. Pack the kit the night before.
How long is a youth race?
Race time targets per FRC §5.4: Cadeți (U17) 45–60 min, Youth A (U15) 30–45 min, Youth B (U13) 20–30 min, MiniBikers (U11) 15–25 min. Plan to stay 90 min per category from start to podium.
Can my kid race up a category?
Only if the host has formally combined the categories with FRC approval. Up-categorising on race day isn't allowed; category follows birth year per FRC §5.4.4. U17s may opt up to Juniori (U19) for the season but the choice locks at round 1.
What happens if my kid crashes or DNFs?
Race-day medic is on the course; a crash that needs medical care is handled by them first. If your kid pulls out mid-race, course marshals will radio the start/finish so you know within minutes. Riders can DNF without penalty; rejoin at the next round is unaffected.
Where do I see results?
Live timing usually on cronometraj.racetecresults.com during the day; official results posted at the start/finish within 30 min of the last podium and on the FRC website within 48 hours. UCI / FRC ranking points (where applicable) are filed within 24 hours.
What protection is mandatory for U15 and U17?
Per FRC §9.7, U15 and U17 follow the §9.6 recommended list as mandatory (chest protector, goggles, elbow pads, full-finger gloves, long-sleeve top), with the neck brace remaining a recommendation rather than a requirement. Confirm at the morning briefing.
See you at the call-up.
Registration runs through the rider's club via the FRC entry form. Confirm the licence, sign the consent form, and pack the kit the night before. The technical guide drops 7–14 days ahead of each round.
