By air
Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport (CND) is the closest: the airport sits about 26 km north-west of central Constanța, and the transition area in Mamaia is about 27.4 km away by road (~36 minutes).
The Transevren bus links the airport with Constanța railway station roughly hourly between 06:25 and 20:00; taxis wait at arrivals. Routes change from season to season — check current flights on the airport's website.
Henri Coandă Airport (OTP), outside Bucharest, has by far the most flights. Trains run from the airport to Bucharest Nord station in 25 minutes, and trains to Constanța leave from Bucharest Nord.
By car it is about 250 km from OTP to Mamaia, around 2 h 52 min, mostly on the A2 motorway. The race's own Directions page also mentions coaches (FlixBus and others) and private transfers, and suggests a rental car or transfer if you travel with a bike.
By train
On 6 October 2026 the timetable showed 16 direct trains a day from Bucharest Nord to Constanța, between 05:30 and 20:33. Most take 2 h 01 to 2 h 24; one stopping Regio train takes over four hours. Seat reservations are mandatory.
Romania's timetable changes every December, so check the September 2027 times on Infofer closer to the race.
A non-folding bike travels only on trains marked with the bicycle pictogram, one per person and space permitting. The bike ticket costs 17.50 lei for Bucharest–Constanța (the 121–250 km band).
Note: CFR does not count a bike with one or both wheels removed as a folding bike — it is charged as bulky luggage. Groups must book bike transport at least 72 hours ahead.
By car
Bucharest to Mamaia is about 237 km, almost all of it on the A2 motorway, in roughly 2 h 45 min with no traffic.
You need a road vignette (rovinietă) and, separately, the Fetești–Cernavodă bridge toll on the A2: 19 lei per crossing for a car, payable by text message, online, at A2 fuel stations or at the booth.

From Constanța to Mamaia
The transition area is about 10 km from Constanța railway station. In summer, CT BUS line 100 runs from the station to Mamaia resort (in 2026, from 19.06.2026); a ticket is 3 lei for one trip or 5 lei for 75 minutes.
Off-season, line 100 only reaches Sat Vacanță at Mamaia's southern entrance. In 2023 the summer lines to Mamaia switched to the off-season timetable on 1 October, so they should still run in late September — but the 2027 dates are not published.
Where to stay
Late September is after the peak season: in 2025 several large Mamaia hotels closed in early September, although the official season runs to 30 September. Before you book, confirm the hotel is open on race weekend and has somewhere to keep your bike.
The race's accommodation page features the IAKI hotel in Mamaia, next to the start, and says special athlete rates come in the registration confirmation email. It is not the only option:
- Mamaia
- Closest to the start and finish — you can walk or ride to transition — but the fewest hotels stay open out of season.
- Mamaia Nord and Năvodari
- 9–12 km from transition (~14–19 min by car), on the bike course.
- Constanța
- Hotels open all year, 9–10 km from transition and close to the station; on race day you need a car, taxi or bike to the start.

Travelling with your bike
- Flying: a hard bike box or padded bag, pedals off, tyres partly deflated and the rear derailleur (or its hanger) protected. Check your airline's sports-equipment rules and fee when you book.
- By train: only on trains with the bicycle pictogram, with a separate bike ticket (see above).
- Bikes are racked in transition the day before the race, so have yours built and checked by Saturday.
