FAQ
Common questions
Do I need an FRC / UCI licence?
Yes — every rider needs a valid UCI licence issued by FRC or an affiliated federation (§5.1). Only U19 and Elite are eligible for UCI points in UCI-registered rounds (§2.11). Amatori-licensed riders can only race in Amatori — not in higher categories (§5.4.2).
What is the race format?
Practice → seeding run → final. Riders start individually at minimum 30-second intervals (§2.6). The seeding run sets the finals start order in reverse seeding. The fastest time in the FINAL wins the category (§2.3–2.4).
What protective gear is mandatory?
Per §9.5: full-face helmet with visor (DH-homologated), knee pads, long or short pants, bar-end plugs, and a spine protector. Per §9.6 recommended: chest protector, goggles, neck brace, elbow pads, full-finger gloves, long-sleeve top. For U15 and U17 the §9.6 list becomes mandatory (except the neck brace).
What kind of bike?
A mountain bike suitable for downhill. Per §5.6 the two wheels may be different diameters. Bar-end plugs are mandatory; traditional road bars are not allowed (§5.3). E-bikes (EPACs) are not permitted in DHI events (§5.4).
When do registrations close?
72 hours before the official start (§4.6, §6.3). Online registration opens at least 20 days before the race on the organiser's site, with a link reposted on the FRC ‘Înscrieri' page.
Can I race in more than one category?
No — you race in the category your licence covers (§5.4.6). U19 and Master riders may opt up to Elite for the season; that choice is locked at round 1 (§5.4.3).
What if the weather turns bad?
The President of the Jury can cancel after consultation with the organiser and the FRC technical delegate (§4.2). For Code-Red weather, date / time / venue can be moved subject to prior FRC approval (§7.8).
What's the equipment for U15 / U17 riders?
Everything in the §9.5 mandatory list plus the §9.6 recommended list — chest protector, goggles, elbow pads, full-finger gloves, long-sleeve top — except the neck brace, which stays recommended. A documented waiver is required for any goggles exception (§9.7).
See you at the start gate.
Registration closes 72 hours before the official start. After that you can still spectate — the pit and finish arena are open all weekend.
