CR Șosea Copii #1 / FRZ Olympus Cup 2026

One-day road races for kids, U7 to U15 — a different host club every round.

24 May 2026 · Ploiești, Prahova

Cupa României de Șosea pentru Copii is the federation's season-long road cup for kids: one-day rounds hosted by different clubs around the country, each on a closed circuit. Categories run from Under 7 to Under 15, with separate races for licensed and unlicensed children — so a first-timer can line up on the same day as the club riders. Entry is online, directly with each round's organiser.

About the cup

A season of one-day rounds, built for kids

CR Șosea Copii is the Cupa României (Romanian Cup) for road cycling in the children's categories. Each round is a one-day race hosted by a local club on a circuit closed to traffic, and runs under FRC rules: age categories from Under 7 to Under 15, maximum distances scaled to each age, and gear limits for the young riders. Most rounds run separate starts for licensed club riders and unlicensed kids, so it works both as a first race and as a season-long cup.

Race format

Categories and distances

Every round is a single day of circuit races, one start per category. The FRC sets the maximum distance for each age; organisers choose the circuit and lap count within it.

For parents

What you actually need on race day

First time at a CR Șosea Copii round? Here's the practical side — the circuit, the paperwork and the shape of the day.

  • Race office

Arrive well before your child's start to collect the race number and finish any paperwork. The organiser's technical guide lists the race-office location and the start time of every category.

  • Parking + team area

Kids' races run on circuits closed to traffic, so parking is usually set away from the start/finish. Organisers mark the team parking area in their technical guide.

  • Watching the race

Riders lap the same closed circuit, so you see your child pass the start/finish several times. Stay behind the barriers and follow the marshals' instructions.

  • Kit checklist

Helmet (mandatory), a well-checked bike, cycling kit, a bottle and snacks — plus the FRC licence for licensed riders. Check the round's guide for any bike rules for your child's category.

  • How long the day takes

Categories race one after another, youngest first, with the awards at the end — usually a full morning to early afternoon. Check your child's start time in the organiser's programme.

  • A parent on site

Under FRC rules for children's races, a parent or legal guardian has to be present for the whole event (or give notarised authorisation to someone who is).

Every child needs a parent's signature to race: written consent for licensed riders, a signed participation declaration for unlicensed ones.

Who races

Categories (FRC)

Category is set by the age a child reaches in the season year (season year − birth year). Under 17 is not part of the kids' cup.

  • Under 15 (M / F)

    Max 35 km

Ages 13–14 (born 2012–2013). The longest race of the day. Licensed and unlicensed riders usually start separately.

  • Under 13 (M / F)

    Max 15 km

Ages 11–12 (born 2014–2015). Several laps of the closed circuit. Licensed and unlicensed riders usually start separately.

  • Under 11 (M / F)

    Max 7 km

Ages 9–10 (born 2016–2017). A few laps of the circuit — often a child's first real race.

  • Under 9 + Under 7 (M / F)

    Max 3 km / 1 km

Ages 5–8 (born 2018–2021). Short, separate starts for the youngest riders: Under 9 (7–8 years) and Under 7 (5–6 years).

Licensed riders race on an FRC youth licence with written parental consent; unlicensed riders enter with a declaration signed by a parent. Some rounds also run a balance-bike race for the youngest — check the round's guide.

Entry + licence

Licensed or not — both can race

Rounds run separate races for licensed and unlicensed children, and riders enter online directly with each round's organiser — there is no central federation entry form.

  • Licensed riders

Club riders race on their FRC youth licence, issued through the club with the parents' written consent, and compete in the licensed starts of each category.

  • Unlicensed riders

Kids without a licence race in their own starts, with a participation declaration signed by a parent. At some rounds the kids' race is open only to unlicensed children.

  • Online entry with the organiser

Each round has its own registration, run by the host club — on its own site or a registration platform. Entries close a few days before the race, and on-site entries are not guaranteed.

  • A parent on site

A parent or legal guardian has to be present for the whole event, or give notarised authorisation to the adult accompanying the child.

FAQ

Race-day questions, parent edition

Does my kid need a federation licence?

No. Most rounds run separate races for licensed and unlicensed children, and at some rounds the kids' race is only for unlicensed riders. Licensed club riders race on their FRC youth licence; unlicensed kids enter with a declaration signed by a parent.

How do we register?

Online, directly with the round's organiser — use the Register button on this page. Each host club runs its own registration and fee, entries close a few days before the race, and on-site entries are not guaranteed.

How long are the races?

The FRC caps the distance for each age: Under 7 up to 1 km, Under 9 up to 3 km, Under 11 up to 7 km, Under 13 up to 15 km and Under 15 up to 35 km. Organisers set the circuit and the number of laps within those limits.

Are the races on open roads?

No. FRC rules require children's races to run on circuits closed to road and pedestrian traffic.

Where can we park and watch?

Organisers publish the race office, team parking and start/finish area in their technical guide. Riders lap the same circuit, so the start/finish is the best place to watch.

Do I have to stay for the whole race?

Yes. A parent or legal guardian must be present for the whole event, or give notarised authorisation to the adult accompanying the child.

Where do we see results?

Each organiser handles timing and publishes results — for example, Cupa Toamnei in Bucharest uses chip timing with results on liniadesosire.ro. Licensed and unlicensed riders are ranked separately.

See you at the start line.

Pick your round, register online with its organiser before entries close, and pack the kit the night before. Don't forget the parent's signature.
