The youth side of the Romanian National Road Cycling Championship. For parents
First time at a CR Șosea Copii round? Here's the practical kit, the logistics, and the timing windows. Road-cycling specifics — closed circuits, time-trial slot windows, kit pickup.
Arrive 60–90 minutes before your kid's start. Number plate, transponder pickup, mechanical check, helmet check. ITT days run on tight start-slot windows — don't be late.
Closed-road racing means designated parking is usually a 5–10 minute walk from the start/finish. Hosts publish parking and family-area maps in the technical bulletin.
Start, finish, and selected mid-course points are open to spectators. Closed-road sections have marshal-managed entry. Bring a folding chair for the longer Cadeți road race.
Road helmet (mandatory, ANSI/CPSC/CE), road bike (no MTB or hybrid), racing kit, cycling shoes (clipless OK from U15 up), spare wheel or wheelset if you have one, bottle, snacks, FRC licence card. Bring the rider's birth certificate if it's their first race.
ITT days run 90 minutes start-to-finish per category. Road race days run 2–3 hours including podium. Plan a full Saturday or Sunday at the host commune.
Who races

Entries are submitted by the rider's club through the FRC formular înscriere. Independent youth licence-holders enter through the same form with club field marked accordingly.
Published by FRC 4–6 weeks before the race weekend. Late entries are not accepted for the National Championship.
Every under-18 starter signs the FRC parental consent form. Available on the federation site; bring two copies — one for race office, one for your records.

Yes. CR Șosea Copii is licensed-only — every starter needs an active FRC youth licence. Issued through the rider's club (or as an independent licence for unaffiliated kids); takes 1–2 weeks. Medical clearance, parental signature, birth certificate, and a passport-style photo required.
Closed-road racing means parking is usually a 5–10 minute walk from the start/finish. Hosts publish parking + family-area maps in the technical bulletin ~10 days ahead. Start/finish always open to spectators; marshalled mid-course viewing points published per round.
Road helmet (mandatory, ANSI/CPSC/CE), road bike (no MTB), racing kit, cycling shoes, spare wheels if you have a set, bottle, snacks, FRC licence, birth certificate (first race only), parental consent form. For ITT days bring a TT skinsuit if your kid has one, but a regular kit is fine.
No — UCI / FRC road regs apply. Drop bars, road frame, road tyres. Flat-bar road bikes accepted in some youth brackets at organiser discretion — confirm with the round's technical bulletin before you travel.
Same individual format as the Seniori but with scaled distances — Cadeți 8–12 km, Youth A 4–6 km. Riders depart at 60–90 second intervals. Parents — your kid's slot is published the day before; show up 60 min ahead.
Only if the host has formally combined categories with FRC approval. Up-categorising on race day isn't allowed. U17s may opt up to Juniori (U19) for the season; choice locks at round 1.
Closed-road racing has medics on motorbike + course marshals at intervals. Crashes that need medical care are handled by the on-course team first. Pulling out mid-race is reported to the start/finish within minutes. No penalty for DNF; rejoin at the next round unaffected.
